Pooh Sticks Run
19th of JuneHere is a chance to take your bear out, I even saw a couple who had taken their own bears to Pooh Bridge, no children just adults.
It all started when we set off on our way to Ashdown forest and Pooh Bridge; ( really 100 Aker Wood) it was a lovely journey with the lead mini keeping the convoy together all the way. We travelled along some lovely country roads with breath taking views. Our first port of call was the Pooh Corner shop this was situated in the lovely village of Hartfield. Parking was easy, but that might have been because it had been raining that day and not as many people as normal were visiting the area. The shop itself was very full of all sorts of things like books, maps, tea towels and Piglets tearoom, here the children can colour in a picture and it will be put on the wall for everyone to see. If the weather is good they is a nice seating area outside in the garden, on the day we visited some of us had tea, coffee and cakes. The tea was especially good; a small pot provided two good cups of tea.
Then it was off again just down the road to Pooh sticks Bridge it was a bit of a walk took us about 10 minutes but was nice on the way we spend our time finding sticks to throw into the river. Like in the Pooh story our aim was to throw the stick on one side of the Bridge with our friends and see who’s comes out the other side first. It is very exciting as the stream is very fast moving.
Then we headed back up to the car park, then on to the forest. Here some of us sat and picnic by our minis, other walked around the Ashdown forest seeing the beautiful views of Galleon’s leap and visiting Pooh sand pit, it looked more like a quarry but we did see a small deer in it.
Then we sat down for our picnic in the Enchanted place, it was a lovely day out, only bettered by a bit more sunshine.
A thank you to Jim Darville who organise it.
